Ambassador Krol Opens Ninth American Corner in Pinsk
U.S. Ambassador George Krol on June 15 addressed a ceremony to open the ninth American Corner in Belarus at the Central City Library in Pinsk. He announced a U.S. donation to the library valued at more than $17,000. It includes two computers, a DVD player, a TV/VCR combination, video films, CD-ROMS, posters, DVDs, reference books, English Language Teaching materials, and an extensive selection of other books and publications in English.
Ambassador Krol expressed the hope that the donation of publications and equipment would "foster improved understanding between the Belarusian and American peoples. "The establishment of American Corners in Belarus, Ambassador Krol said, "would not be possible without the assistance, interest, and dedication of Belarusians. This is truly a bilateral undertaking, and Americans appreciate what Belarusians have done to help create this important means of communication between the citizens of our two nations."
