Annual FLEX Alumni Picnic
On July 19, Ambassador Kozak and Mrs. Kozak hosted an annual picnic welcoming Belarusian alumni of the Future Leaders Exchange (FLEX) Program. Over 50 participants in the one of the most popular U.S. Government-sponsored exchange programs for high school students got together at the Embassy Main Residence to share their U.S. experiences and establish networking.
The FLEX Program was established in 1992 with a goal to provide an opportunity for high school students from the countries of the former Soviet Union to experience life in a democratic society in order to promote democratic values and institutions in Eurasia. Since then, more than 11,000 students from the former Soviet Union countries - including several hundred from Belarus - have spent one year living with an American family and studying in a U.S. high school.
